Review of Split (2017) by Katey W — 30 Aug 2017
Okay, you may say it suggests mental illness is congruent with violence but if you do you're missing the point. This is, in fact, a comic book film.
But in the defense of the previous argument, yes, sometimes mental illness does lead to violence. Many fail to see that criminal behavior is rarely committed by the, let's say "level headed". And yes there can be beautiful, wonderful stories about mental illness or "non-normies", and these stories exist and they are out there. But the ones that stick with you have to get an emotional response. Fear is a strong response and it explains why people love the horror genre.
But to reinforce,... our protagonist is not what meets the eye. Actually, contrary to the implications of his diagnosis he is super human. ...Remember...Comic book movie.
I expect a sequel with Bruce Willis.
