Review of Split (2017) by Lori A — 04 Nov 2017
I rarely watch (or enjoy) movies that frighten me, nor do I appreciate gratuitous violence in absense of a strong story line. This movie kept me riveted and when I was sure of the movies next moves, I was mistaken. McAvoy is an actor I'm unfamiliar with, but no longer. This guy brings the WOW facotor in every.
Scene he's in. How he finesses the various "personalities" he is saddled with portraying is a wonder to me. His psychotherapist, played by Betty Buckley, is equally impressive. This woman makes her role come alive and together w McAvoy they draw us into their terrifying journey of manipulation and control. This movie was superbly cast along with the three young women who play the puppets in the macabre world they are faced with the terrifying task of trying outwit and survive.
Well done... well done!
