Review of Split (2017) by Vasco M — 09 Dec 2017
Shayamalan creates a very eerie mood here that's somewhat surprising given his recent disastrous efforts of Hollywood storytelling, but the film's juggling act between its flashback story, psychiatrist story and kidnapping story somewhat hinder its ability to let you focus on any single character, half being about McAvoy's persona of 30 different personas and the other half the protagonist girl.
It feels like there's a lot of control behind the wheel but at the end of it, I wasn't sure whose story I was exactly supposed to be involved in.
