Review of Split (2017) by Late R — 11 Aug 2018

Even if the premise wasn't so interesting and unique; even if the story didn't reveal more and more levels of insanity as it progressed, raising the tension to higher and higher levels; even if it wasn't so nicely filmed, creating a creepy, claustrophobic atmosphere that fits so well - even if it wasn't all of the above, I could have watched McAvoy performing the absolute hell out of his characters all day long.

Honestly, he's just that damn great in this. The rest of the cast shine too, with Anya Taylor-Joy and Betty Buckley giving stand-out performances. 'Split' sees Shyamalan return to form and offer up a thriller that doesn't fail to engross, and even has a surprise at the end that is going to be a reason for excitement for many people.
