Review of Splendor in the Grass (1961) by D R — 18 Jun 2008
Up there as one of the greatest high school films ever, it's flawless. Beautifully acted and directed. Isn't Natalie Wood simply one of the most endearing and beautiful hollywood actress ever to grace our screens, Beatty is great here too, but lets be honest its Natalie's film. She captures the innocence, madness and ectasy that is your first love.
A very poignant and relevant story that easily could beat the majority of todays highschool films.
Great ending, very moving, gets me every time. From the director of some of the greatest films ever made(Elia Kazan classics>>> On the waterfront, A Streetcar named desire, and East of Eden), Splendor in the Grass is simply one of those movies you MUST see, you won't regret it.
