Review of Spirited Away (2001) by Paperaquarium — 06 Sep 2018
I initially was drawn to this movie because it had my favourite trope: young girl who finds herself in a strange, new world; it's a cliche at this point. But this film is so much more than that. It sucks you in with a relatable main character and an interesting premise, keeps you entertained with strange and amazing creatures, and makes you think about life, change and growing up.
The animation is nothing like I've seen before as a Westerner- you can feel all the painstakingly hard work that must have gone into every frame to make each one simply breathtaking. And the story just flows so dreamlike and effortless.
TLDR: it's just so well done, I can't NOT give it a 10. The one thing I must say is that it isn't really for children below 8/10 cos there are some scary sequences.
