Review of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002) by Diane J — 05 Feb 2009
Not bad for Disney. Their villains (in this case a Calvary officer) are usually overdone and demonic. They used a lighter hand with this one, and let the story stand on it's own four feet. Love Matt's voice as the leading horse and the relationship established with the Indians.
It made me think about some I have wondered about: how native Americans adapted so quickly to working with horses, a foreign animal to them? Perhaps their approach to treating animals as brothers enabled them to become "horse whisperers" of sorts.
