Review of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002) by Jacob B — 31 Jul 2017
With gorgeous animation, beautifully crafted songs almost on par with those in The Prince of Egypt, a simple story so that it can appeal to children and Hans Zimmer's amazing score, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron manages to be dramatic AND entertaining without having to resort to your typical " anthropomorphic talking-animals" thing anyone would expect from an animated movie.
DreamWorks still totally got the idea from Disney's tradition of sentient horses that don't talk. I have no interest in watching that Netflix show loosely based off of this film. Looks like a cash grab to me.
Matt Damon's gonna be pissed when he finds out. But hey, that's Hollywood.
