Review of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002) by Dee R — 27 Apr 2008
A female giving birth so obviously is a new experience in a cartoon.
This film was certainly refreshing.
Even though there was another ''male-female-encounter-and-they-fall-in-love''-scene, it was not so overdramatic like most love scenes that can be found in the Disney collection.
The animals stay animal; with no talking (besides the narrator) and only ''horse speak''.
There were alot of songs in the movie, at least one each 5 minutes, but none of the songs were ''beautiful'' or touched my heart, the only good they had is setting the mood for the current situation.
On their own, they are total waste.
The animation was stunning and impressive, and there were alot of exiting moments. Though, somewhere I wished the female horse would have died for the sake of originality.
Did you notice none of the characters had a name (except ''Spirit'')?
