Review of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) by Solear — 18 Dec 2021
It's an OK movie, better than recent cinema pieces in recent years, but there are some cringy bad parts in it that pull it down from being a great movie. The first ~30m of the movie is very cringy, everyone behaves like an angsty teenager, the character writing there is immature, feels like it was written by a teenager for teenagers who think this is edgy / quirky but in fact it is irritating.
The other factor that pulled down my score was MJ's character. Zendaya's smug "tell it to the white man" attitude I find superbly irritating, every time she opened her mouth I just wanted to skip ahead, she was easily the worse MJ character of all time.
When she straight up told Dr Strange to shut up and say please, I was like "oh my god, just stop please skip ahead.. Soo cringy.. The rest of the move was OK, familiar characters create predictable nostalgia, CGI is acceptable.
All in all not that bad with crappy parts.
