Review of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) by Rixam — 17 Dec 2021
Even though everyone seems to absolutely love the earlier Spider-man movies with Maguire and Garfield for me each one of them was a pain to watch through. On the contrast I have absolutely loved every appearance of Tom Holland as a Spider-man because it has been such a different take to this character that has been done so many times. So I had strong doubts about if I could enjoy a movie that based on the trailers gathered all the villains from previous movies.
I was positively surprised. All the characters from the previous Spider-man movie iterations that I had trouble looking at in their original movies were actually enjoyable in this context. The story was easy to follow for me and I found myself enjoying pretty much the whole movie. Action scenes were at times just a big blur with so much happening but they were enjoyable.
Next to the spoilery stuff so if you accidentally expanded this turn back now.
I understand that for many Tom Holland Spider-man is just "Iron Man Jr." and it cheapens the character but personally that is what I love about the MCU iteration. So to me personally the ending was a slight disappointment because it takes the character to a direction I don't personally enjoy with setting and visual design. I hope there are more movies with MCU Spider-man in the future and he can get back some of the things that were lost in the ending of this one.
Mid-credits scene had me scared if the character would come to MCU because it has been an absolute pain to watch them in their own movies but luckily that character was handled perfectly.
But yeah, all in all I enjoyed the movie very much and I'm really looking forward see more any kind of Spider-man content in the future. Slight minuses for hard readability and taking the story to a direction I don't prefer.
