Review of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) by Tropical F — 13 Jan 2019
Everyone keeps talking about how awesome this Spider-Man movie is and how it's a damn good apology for The Emoji Movie. And yeah, I'm in the same boat. The movie delivers beautifully-rendered action, a mind-blowing animation style and then some.
The movie is full of jokes with that Lego Movie influence still being there although Phil Lord and Chris Miller didn't direct this one, the storytelling is great, the voice actors really did their best and the movie also sends some fantastic life lessons.
Into the Spider-Verse lives up to the hype and I wouldn't be surprised if, for once, Disney or Pixar don't win Best Animated Feature. After all, based off of the fact that the last two non-Disney or Pixar had great animation styles, why shouldn't this movie despite aiming more for a comic book one rather than photorealism?
