Review of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) by Wiscojoe — 19 Dec 2018

By far the best Marvel movie since Spider-Man 2, Into the Spiderverse reinvigorates the comic book movie genre by perfectly integrating the comic book art form with cinematic conventions. It succeeds as both an art film and as a kid-friendly studio franchise film in unexpected ways.

There are a few moments where the animation and story veer towards "direct to video" kiddie cash-grab territory, but overall this film accomplishes more than most big-budget live-action superhero franchise films even attempt.
