Review of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) by Brad H — 19 Dec 2018
Wow! This is a creative achievement in animation worth remembering. Sony took a big risk and extra time to try and create a comic book movie we have never seen before and they succeeded.
The style of the halftone patterns and chromatic aberrations make you feel like you're watching an old comic book (complete with registration printing issues) come to life before your very eyes. The story is great and the characters are endearing. Sony is able to make fun of themselves with good humor in one scene and create very serious scenes in the next moment.
Props to Sony on making a PG comic book movie that kids of all ages can love. Although I recommend nine or older as some scenes are intense.
Warning for spoilers below...
I enjoyed all the characters except for Spider-Pig. He seemed to be thrown in for comic relief, but the best jokes were nothing to do with him. Perhaps he tests well with a younger audience?
