Review of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) by Christopher C — 15 Dec 2018
Movie of the year and pretty damn near perfect. this is a comedy first and the snappy lines and physical goofs are right on par with Lord and Miller's best. the whole voice cast has a great batch of comedians.
This movie however does not sacrifice anything to its humor action is intense, fast passed and inspired while the emotion is real, impact and if you are someone who just HAS A DAD, you may find yourself crying through the whole final third like I was.
The visuals merge all sorts of different animation together seamlessly and you get more out of it with each viewing.
This movie really feels like it's made by people who understand spiderman and what he means to fans. while other super hero movies will have a mission statement of taking a hero, but this time "we're gonna make it cool". Into The Spiderverse understands that spiderman already is cool and that's why he's so popular of a character even after all these years. you can tell the impact of this movie from seeing this movie from the way the voice cast talks about it in interviews. Jake Johnson even saying something to the effect of: that he went into the film liking spiderman, but because of doing it and being spiderman, he will go into a sequel being a FAN of spiderman.
Its a special film for all ages and the first REALLY right step for Sony animation.
