Review of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) by Chris A — 06 Feb 2017
While awesome to see Spidey back in the MCU where he belongs, this first outing stumbles a bit. It does at least skip the origin story so that we don't have to go through it for the third time, but I just couldn't find myself caring about this incarnation of Spidey like I could with Tobey Maguire's version of the character.
The visuals are standard fare for MCU movies (good, but a bit much), the villain is slightly interesting (mostly because of Michael Keaton's performance), and having Iron Man make a few appearances that help establish the uncle/nephew kind of dynamic he and Peter have, but it just didn't make a lasting impression on me.
The movie is perfectly adequate in almost every way, but I can't imagine wanting to see it again.
