Review of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) by Adw55125 — 07 Jul 2017
I have to admit, I was debating not even going to see this movie. I didn't care for Tom Holland or what I saw in Civil War, and I was so sick of them rebooting Spider-Man. It felt like milking the franchise, and they had cancelled two iterations of Spider-Man I cared for because they had one bad movie each.
I thought "what, not even gonna try and fix it? just gonna reboot again?". This surprised me and felt refreshingly different. No origin, well not in the sense of Uncle Ben getting shot and Peter getting bitten, but more in the sense of learning how to be the best hero he can.
Holland proved me wrong, I was completely on board with his Spidey and found myself really invested. I don't know whether he is the best Spider-Man but he was great. Iron Man was used effectively and did not take over the movie much to my surprise.
Michael Keaton turned in the best performance as a villain in the MCU. (That may not sound like a complement...or something impressive...but it is).
