Review of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) by Dan T — 23 Aug 2017
Easily my favorite spiderman film to date. Not only was Tom Holland awesome but Micheal Keaton played an awesome villain they really made each character likable in their own ways. What really stood out was that we finally got a spidy film in which he actually was the friendly neighborhood spider as seen when he was slinging and jumping through the sub burbs as a crazy obstacle.
trying to catch the bad guys. The action sequences really caught my full attention as they were intense and fun at the same time. I found myself and the audience all locked in and reacting to each scene like this film was meant to get audiences to tag along and broke the ice.
Everyone including myself were laughing and clapping throughout the movie which I believe is a great movie going experience when it makes the audience stay in the moment. This film carried an amazing feeling of synergy and really has a positive effect that stays with viewers even after the credits roll.
This new franchise showed alot of promise and teased alot of cool ideas. As far as origin stories go this ranks up there with iron man and I really like how they skipped the portion of parker losing his uncle and getting bit by the spider and instead chose to open the film with the character development of the antagonist.
This spider film didnt treat us like we were idiots who had no clue who spiderman was. it drops you right into the action and expands on peter parkers amazing story with fun little easter eggs and works like a great mcu film with each shocking twist after another.
and the classic ending with aunt mays reaction was a perfect send off for this new and improved spiderman movie which to me stands firmly as the best spiderman adaptation ever.
