15 years and 5 movies later, Marvel finally gets a crack at arguably their most notable and bankable star on their roster, Were they able to take advantage of it?

The Plot.

Marvel seems to hit the nail right on the head with this one; they seem to not get anything wrong lately since Thor: the dark world, and that includes AoU, (watch it again and again you'll get it). It brings us closer to "street level" as Tony would put it the neighbourhood.

How the world works after what happened in New York eight years ago when the world was introduced to the supers. Without spoiling anything, it "connects" to the MCU so fluidly you'll believe that Peter was in the MCU ever since the beginning.

Peter's high school life was well executed reflecting real life high school in Queens, New York, the diversity, gym class, detention etc., and his shenanigans after school, being the friendly neighbourhood spiderman, thwarting petty crimes, robberies.

Not to overreaching and not to mundane, it gives you enough to keep you engrossed throughout the 2 hour run time.

The Characters.

No one, and with all due respect to Tobey and Andrew, has gotten Peter AND Spiderman down to a tee like how Tom Holland has done it and people who are criticizing him as being to childish or goofy has obviously never picked up a comic book before.

The supporting cast was so-so, But Ned is a scene stealer, better keep an eye on that guy.

A lot of people feared it might become Iron Man 4 basing it on the trailers but watching the whole thing it's far from it. It is definitely still a Spider-Man movie.

Overall.

The action was great Spiderman's moves are still not of the wow kind but we have to understand this guy is still a superhero in training. The villain had a very good reason to do what he was doing, sometimes even leading you to question whether who is right and wrong.

This is a fantastic start for Marvel's own vision for Spider-Man, finally he is HOME.
