Review of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) by The Movie G — 09 Jul 2017
Spider-Man: Homecoming is the second reboot to the Spider-Man films and is also one of the best Spider-Man films yet! Let's all be honest, we have not gotten a great Spider-Man movie in a while. Ever since, Director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man Trilogy of 2002-2007, The Evil Dead Trilogy) started directing Spider-Man (2002) and Spider-Man 2 (2004) they were great movies, Spider-Man 3 was an ok film, but was also kind of a let down to its fans.
Then, when we got a reboot to Spider-Man in 2012 called The Amazing Spider-Man that was an okay film and in my opinion it wasn't really a bad film, but there were some flaws that the film had in it.
Then when we got The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014, it then was a HUGE disappointment, and it was so bad that Sony Pictures canceled the franchise, and because the actor who was playing Spider-Man Andrew Garfield did not show up for his meeting for the next Spider-Man film.
That's why they cancelled it. Then, in 2016 when Spider-Man was owned by Marvel Studios and owned half by Sony Pictures, we got Captain America: Civil War which Spider-Man was in for about 10 to 15 Mins of the film.
That's when we were getting a better Spider-Man mostly owned by Marvel Studios. Then, this year 2017 we got Spider-Man: Homecoming so hear is my review of the film. Spider-Man: Homecoming is the newest reboot to Spider-Man, and is a really good reboot too! The acting is good, the characters are really good as well, the writing is good, and the directing is good.
Tom Holland is a great Spider-Man, but is not better or worst than Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, he was as good as Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man. I thought Michael Keaton as the Vulture was also good, and as some people were saying that there's something with Michael Keaton and bird costumes.
Marisa Tomei as Aunt May was really good and there is one hilarious scene with her in the film. Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark was a little bit different and a little more better because in all the MCU films that he is in he always is the comedian and says something funny, but in this movie he was a little more serous and less like a big comedian which I liked a little bit more.
The CGI and Special Effect were entertaining in the film and was great to watch. But, some of the problems that I actually had with the film was that sometimes in the movie, their would be some comedy which I enjoy in films, but in this movie there were some parts that were actually sometimes stupid and funny, and sometimes really stupid and funny and a tiny bit irreverent, that it felt like I wasn't watching an MCU film, it felt sometimes like was watching like a Seth Rogen or Judd Apatow picture, but this movie was written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M.
Goldstein who directed Vacation (2015), but there was humor that did make me laugh, but just some that were really that dumb. Another problem with the film that I had was the end scene credit. The mid scene credit to the movie is good, but the end scene credit was sort of disappointing and the thing is that this is not the only MCU film that had a sort of disappointing end scene credit to it, there was another one more film that had it also.
But everything else to the film was really good and really fun to watch. I hope that they make a sequel (which they probably are) to this movie.
