Review of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) by Jordan G — 07 Jul 2017
A Spider-Man movie finally arrives that manages to reconcile the webslinger's wit and showstopping antics with the repercussions of being a hero like his mentor, Tony Stark. The characters are memorable, the effects bombastic, and the plot is electrifying and fresh, balancing the familiar story of a friendly neighborhood superhero with the anti-corporate poignancy of Keaton's Vulture.
But most importantly of all, the film succeeds in putting you right there with one of the most successful portrayals of Spider-Man to date. Every humorous moment lands, every twist and turn leaves you on the edge of your seat.
And when Peter's life is in jeopardy, you can't want anything but to see him succeed. While the Avengers' newest recruit is full of webs, Spider-Man: Homecoming proves this franchise is anything but.
