Review of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) by Brendan H — 07 Jul 2017
Despite dragging towards the end, the first 3/4's of the film were spot on, finding the right balance of action, wit, and plot development to keep the audience engaged and chuckling. Tom Holland hit it out of the park, displaying impressive range for a Marvel movie and so-accurately encapsulating the themes of teen angst and coming-of-age fueling the story.
And with a slightly more developed villain than in most recent super hero flicks, Michael Keaton was actually able to display some of his acting chops as an imposing yet dynamic figure. Overall, a highly entertaining film with enough going on distract viewers from wondering what happened to the classic 'spider-bite' or 'Uncle Ben' scenes.
