Review of Spider-Man 3 (2007) by Sacha A — 04 Jan 2015
In someways, I found this better than the second film. The special effects are the best in the series and the Sandman scenes were truly amazing and so real that you have to give credit to the special effects department.
Tobey Maguire is still great as Peter Parker/ Spiderman and when he becomes "evil" brings a new twist to the character. Topher Grace is cool as vemon, though most of it was CGI and the rest are of the cast are a credit to the comics.
I'd admit it does lose itself among the special effects and it does get rather confusing but the plot is the last thing on my mind as I'm blown away but the lovely and brilliant special effects.
Raimi at least manages to make it both huge and human. But the problem that lies within the film is that there is too much going on and it does get confusing, could've been better if maybe they stretched this film as a too parter and not squeeze this into a two-hour film.
Having said that, this is a slight improvement to the second and is still a worthy sequel. The film doesn't teem; it just seems cluttered - a collection of scenes, and occasionally great visuals or gags, strung together by an inadequate plot but Raimi at least manages to make it both huge and human.
But why the hell are they rebooting the series? it wasn't THAT bad...a pretty good threequel.
