Review of Spider-Man (2002) by Jd D — 09 Aug 2013
At first I thought it was an okey, funny but cheesy superhero movie but as time went by and I have rewatched it countless times, I have come to appriciate the simple yet exhilarating and fun rollercoaster that is Spider-Man.
The cheesy lines and delivery has grown on me quite a bit and I have now come to actually appriciate it. It gives the movie charm and personality. The plot is your standard hero versus villain, but then again isn`t that what we want? The showdowns between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin are amazing and packs some breathtaking action sequences.
Just to see Spider-Man`s web-swinging through Manhattan is still as exciting and awesome as it was 11 years ago. The characters aswell as the cast to represent them are likable and well developed. Everyone delivers solid performances especially Tobey Maguire.
This movie has some of the most iconic scenes from the last decade of cinema like the "upside down kiss" "Spider-Man`s pose in front of the American flag" and ofcourse "the bridge scene".
Spider-Man single handedly revived the superhero genre, which says alot in and of itselfe. It`s just an all around fun popcorn blockbuster which packs great comedy, amazing superhero action and suprisingly solid emotional scenes.
You have to see this film if you haven`t already.
