Review of Spider-Man (2002) by Tanner G — 13 Aug 2013
Spider-Man defined the modern origin story as X-Men did the superhero movie. It thrillingly captured Spider-Man's origins as faithful as a movie could, the casting is great, Tobey Maguire is the perfect awkward-but-likeable Peter Parker, and Willem Dafoe is exactly how you'd imagine Norman Osborn to be in real life, the choice of director is golden, I love Sam Raimi's work and his visual style didn't let up for Spider-Man, it's as fun and incredible as ever.
The action looks incredible and feels as if you're immersed in it, all the acting is terrific and the story is so faithful it's almost like they copied it right from the page, and that's a positive thing. It's so fun and exciting yet sweet and loveable at the same time, it's one of the best superhero movies around.
