Review of Spider-Man (2002) by Vincent G — 28 Apr 2014
When I first saw this movie I thought it was the greatest thing ever. I t got me into comic books. Of course once I started reading Spider-Man's comics I began to notice something amiss with Raimi's films.
It's difficult now to point out anything I DO like. Norman Osborn is a weak willed, oblivious, ineffectual leader which is a MILLION miles away from what he should be. The LOOK of the Green Goblin is ridiculous and he's reduced to a second tier villain.
Peter Parker is knuckle crunching neanderthal who spends most of the movie leering psychotically at MJ. MJ I actually liked in this movie. She was a manipulator but here she was cute enough that she could get away with it.
Sure they stuck with the Spidey showing off his skils to a crowd and then letting a thief get away who eventually killed his uncle and I'll admit they pulled it off halfway decently. They Got J.Jonah Jameson right.
James Franco is Harry incarnate. But that's about all I can say.
