Review of Spider-Man (2002) by John B — 11 Oct 2014
This film relies purely on its visual effects. There is no substance to it in any other direction. The romance scenes between Kirtsen Dunst and Toby McGuire are unbearable to watch.
Don't get me wrong the action sequences are great and the Spider-Man suit looks cool, but there's not much else going on. The acting is terrible right the way through. I'd have thought William Defoe and James Franco would have given typically good performances, but no even they are were weak. Toby McGuire is rubbish in it but that's no surprise he is a terrible actor.
I think this film was a re-cast and a re-write away from being a much better picture.
