Review of Spider-Man (2002) by Barry W — 24 Apr 2015
_REWATCH REVIEW_.
I've decided to rewatch the old Spider-Man movies to see if they're actually better than the new ones, and holy crap they are! This first one brings back so many memories! I remember watching it as a 5 year old, it was bloody amazing! So many not even very important scenes made me get goosebumps. First of all, Tobey Maguire is great as Spider-Man! His socially awkward, geeky and just the right amount of funny. I, also, love how this movie showed the beginning of Spider-Man, with the wrestling and the old costume first, and then the evolution to the well known, new suit. Secondly, the story is quite your ordinary superhero story. There's a girl. There's a villian. There's saving the girl, causing lots of mayhem and, of course, saving the city at the end. But, even despite a simple story, unlike the new TASM which tried to be much more complicated, the movie has lots of heart. Especially in the uncle Ben's death scene. Last, but not the least, the soundtrack! Oh my God, the soundtrack! From the very beginning when the theme song came up, I got chills. It's one of the greatest superhero soundtracks! All in all, an excellent superhero movie with a simple story, but nonetheless very entertaining with great soundtrack and acting. It's a must-see!
