Review of Spider-Man (2002) by Bill M — 26 May 2017
Spiderman is important, it came along at a time when the term "summer blockbuster", was a dirty word, previous movie summers from about the late 90's onwards had drowned in a cg hell of charmless, terrible overdone mega rubbish.
Spiderman gave the blockbuster back it's heart, it made the summer movie season sorta respectable again. It was also one of the first two movies (the other 2000's x-men) to set the template for the last decades worth of cinemas outright obsession with superhero movies and comic book adaptations in genrall, which now come out at a rate of at least 3 or four per year.
