Review of Spider-Man 2 (2004) by Edward G — 24 Mar 2016
This is one of my favorite super-hero movies and my favorite of all Spider-man movies made so far (which includes the Andrew Garfield movies). The reason why is because if I animated this entire movie and put it into a comic book, it would fit beautifully. The way they humanize Peter Parker with his loss of powers along with the way they develop his relationship with Mary-Jane is executed in a captivating way. Honestly, by itself, this movie stands in solid stature. If you're a Spider-fan and already know the origins, you can just jump into this story and enjoy it. And on top of a great story, the action is outstanding! Both the building-side and subway-train fight scenes are exhilaratingly fun to watch. The CGI isn't the greatest; however, it was filmed around the early/mid 2000's so, although it's not LOTR worthy, it's still pretty great.
Overall, this movie was very fun to watch and I always enjoy re-visiting it with my Spider-friends. It's a great film for both super-nerds and casual family nights. Definitely worth buying on blu-ray! (credit to Jeremy Jahns).
