Featuring a talented cast of newcomers and old-timers, The Amazing Spider-Man, while not completely original, is an entertaining, fast-paced thrill ride that is enjoyable to fans of the series and casual viewers alike.
Changing minor details (and improving on others) The Amazing Spider-Man may appeal more to the fans of the comic books than the Sam Raimi trilogy did. Surprisingly good direction from Marc Webb lends a hand to the action sequences, making them differ from their predecessors.
