Review of Spider-Man (1977) by Lenny R — 19 Jul 2015
I'm a huge Raimi fan, so I hated the idea of this movie on principle - but, having seen it, I can't deny it's pretty damn good, largely due to Andrew Garfield's take on Spidey, aided by some top-quality trash-talk from the writers.
In fact, the screenplay is great all round, including similar 'origin' events and accompanying themes to Raimi's original, but with more subtlety and a less Maguirish handling of the material.
The supporting cast are all as good as would be expected. The POV shots (clearly intended to play with the 3D) are unnecessary, but the action is otherwise very impressive.
