Review of Spider-Man (1977) by Petros T — 04 Sep 2016
Both direction and script do shed a welcoming light in Peter Parker's story. Half-remake, half-reboot, some of the film's choices pay off, some others don't, e.g. the different take on Spider-Man's origin story is tastefully done whereas Mary Jane's absence is rather unfortunate (although Emma Stone is very good as Gwen Stacy).
The characters seem a little less weighty and the finale a bit underwhelming but there's a lot of fun and emotion to be found here too. Better and worse at the same time.
