Review of Spider Forest (2004) by Ralph R — 26 Feb 2008
Poor, poor, poor. Though well shot and containing memorable images, this film suffers from predictability and lack of significance. The whole story is, seemingly, a divergence. The subplots are meaningless and meandering.
This film tries desparately to be something like Jacob's Ladder, but fails miserably. If you like exposition, heavy (nonsensical) backstory, and connections by sheer coincedence in your films, go for it! This doesn't rank among Lynch's films, despite my peers' suggestions.
I teach ESL and none of my Korean students liked this one either.
