Review of Speed Racer (2008) by Tom R — 21 May 2010
The story is very good, and the directing is great. The first 20 minutes are the best and most inventive and effciant first act i've ever seen, with perfect flash-back transition. And the use of the video games and animes codes are awesome! It's not just a transposition of them but a true re-invention, a true adaptation for a movie.
The fight scenes are hilarious, and confirm that the Wachowskis never make twice time the same fight (from The Matrix to Speed Racer, all fight scene is different from the others).
The story is very satisfying, with good climax, the final climax is the most powerful of his kind, for visual and emotions both!
Caracters are nices! John Goodman is convincing as a father in conflict with his son, and as a wrestler.
Spritle and the monkey are fun too, nothing to do with a well known gungan.
The music is extraordinary, Giacchino is the man.
Le meilleur film du monde!
