One of my personal favorites. "Speed Racer" is more than the sum of its parts. Featuring a sub-standard plot and cloyingly colorful visuals I can understand why critics chewed this movie out. But this is a bewildering two-hour-long spectacle of a film, and it builds to a climax that never ceases to amaze me. I swear, every time I see this movie, I have to restrain myself from standing up and cheering "GO SPEED RACER GO!"at the top of my lungs.
"Speed Racer" is no masterpiece, but it's hard for me to speak negatively with my jaw on the ground.
