Review of Speed Racer (2008) by Chris K — 12 Dec 2012

A fast, colorful, crazy and wildly entertaining wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am action movie. Seen it four times now, and still is a lot of fun. The unique and wildly imaginative visuals make for some creative and uniquely edited sequences and plenty of memorable moments - including a few fantastic race scenes.

It's a pretty kid oriented film, and some of the humor is childish and silly, I'll admit that. But it does an excellent job telling the story of the Racer family, and I was gripped in the finale until the final moments of the film.

I grew up with Hot Wheels and Speed Racer cartoons, and this movie has a special place in my heart. When you're in the mood for a lighthearted and massively entertaining "Matrix with cars" look no further.

A great family film with great values, and terrific kinetic action.
