Review of Speed Racer (2008) by J K — 07 Jun 2010

*Speed Racer Blu-Ray review* Speed Racer was a very fun, very entertaining movie for me. It is probably one of the best anime/ cartoon to movie translations to come out in awhile. I really did like it better than Dragonball Evolution.

Anyway, the story was brought forth very well through a series of flash backs at the beginning, once the official story kicks in, it is an adventurous adrenaline ride through and awesome looking, video game-like amazing future where car racing is huge and it is the time of the legendary 91'st Grand Prix.

So it's kinda far in the future. The graphics on this movie are incredible! What do you expect when it's the freakin' Wachowski Brothers directing it! It really is like entering into an anime world.

The cast was awesome! John Goodman did a great job as Pop's. The main kid that played Speed was excellent and really did a good job bringing that character to the screen. The goofy kid with the monkey was pretty hilarious.

All of the different racers were crazy looking. Like the evil Viking dude! lol. Racer X looked pretty cool too. They really did a good job keeping it just like an anime. I'm sure fan's of the cartoon respect and view this as the definitive movie for Speed Racer.

People who are not familiar with the cartoon are still in for an awesome thrill ride! The blu-ray was amazing! all of the crisp, crystal clear graphics just look amazing. The different tracks, the sleek designs of the cars, all looked bad-ass on Blu-ray.

It's really a shame this movie wasn't in 3D! That would have been a real blast! So check out Speed Racer. It's pretty fast paced. 4-starz.
