Review of Speed Racer (2008) by Araminta G — 29 Jul 2018
Aight lets talk for a sec. This movie is a visual masterpiece. its a movie about car racing that tells the vast majority of its emotional through the beats of these car races. not only does it understand racing (and racing to mythical degree) but utilizes so purpiously that I can honestly feel comfortable to say that no movie uses its subject with such directed vigor as this movie does.
Honestly almost every "flaw" in this movie can easily be chopped up to a clumsy misunderstanding. the overly CGIed opening scene showing speed's childhood is such a perfect representation of how a person remembers their own childhood.
plastic and bubbly. if you notice, the movie never looks like that unless its in the eyes of a child. sure the Royalton headquarters looks a bit over the top fake BUT YES THE MAN THAT THAT PLACE REPRESENTS IS ALSO A BIT OVER THE TOP FAKE.
I have very little excuses for Speed's little brother and that monkey but I mean dang that one line "can I come with you speed" should honestly excuse the otherwise pointless character. but I mean come on y'all.
Rotten?? really?????
