Review of Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997) by Earl H — 06 Aug 2009
This movie is unfortunately very sad. It is a perfect example of a sequel that pretty much completely fails to capture the magic of its original film. I think losing Keanu Reeves was a big blow to this film, but having him wouldn't have saved it.
I don't know Jason Patric and I had a hard time replacing Keanu Reeves with him. Sandra Bullock's character portrayal seemed more annoying than the first film. I generally like Willem Dafoe and he put in a good effort, but the tone of the film just wasn't right and he came off as a poor-man's Dennis Hopper.
Overall, the feel of this movie is just not right.
