Reluctant heroine Annie (Sandra Bullock) is the unsung star of Speed, which succeeds as more than just an early 90's action movie, but as a memorable film still watched and enjoyed today. It's not often a summer blockbuster achieves this much critical acclaim, but Speed deserves every accolade it achieves by implementing memorable characters (especially Dennis Hopper), intelligent writing and an action-packed pace that doesn't once fall below 50 mph.
