In terms of sheer adrenaline fuelled entertainment this pretty much tops the list. Even Die Hard (an undisputed classic of the action thriller genre) didn't cut to the chase as quickly as Speed did.
Aside from a few minutes of initial setup this is essentially a film of one consistent action sequence grounded by the great chemistry of its onscreen couple. Outstanding!
