The film that launched Sandra Bullock's career and proved Keanu Reeves could carry a movie. Makes great use of an unfinished LA freeway, well executed practical effects, and seminal digital VFX. Still exciting almost 20 years on and the choice of Hopper as villain is inspired.
Like all brilliant ideas, the premise was simple and perfectly suited to driving an action film yet no one had come up with it before.
