Review of Speed (1994) by Compi24 — 27 Aug 2018
This is an unmitigated masterclass in holding the audience within an uncomfortable, yet thrilling zone of tension and uncertainty, constantly giving the protagonistic forces roadblocks upon roadblocks to try and problem-solve.
Things go from bad, to worse, to even worse, to "oh, dear God, why?" at such an alarming rate and it is nothing short of an absolute blast to watch from start to finish. Jan De Bont's "Speed" is up there with "Die Hard" and "Lethal Weapon" -- that is to say, it's one of the finest, pure action movies ever conceived, produced, and witnessed.
