Review of Spectre (2015) by Mark F — 20 Feb 2016
Weirdly, I was just thinking that I've never seen James Bond lose a fight before, so when Batista looked to have got him licked on the train, I was genuinely getting a bit tense. I think that only serves to highlight the problem with the rest of the movie though - it tends to feel like something you've already seen before. It's a little "Bond By Numbers"...everything is uninspired and rehashed from previous outings. You never get a sense you're going to see something different.
That said, Bond By Numbers is still quite good because it's those numbers that have made it the biggest film franchise in the world. So it's still enough to stay interested. I think I was just expecting more.
