Review of Spectre (2015) by Dave C — 06 Mar 2016
Spectre manages to be an interesting study of the Bond enigma. As I was watching the film I couldn't shake the notion that it felt something like a tribute, both to the Bond name itself, and secondly to Craig's own contribution to the character. Along with this comes the feeling that this flim is Craig's final nod to the franchise, fusing a story that reaches in to Bond's past with a sense of current tension of whether he is finally ready to move on, or whether he is trapped in this character forever.
The film itself is a familiar mix of Bond staples, boasting a mix of action sequence, narrative and glamorous and good looking people. It is all represented, but the film is less inventive than past instalments and more of an emotional project. Whether this is a good or bad thing depends on the viewer.
