Review of Spectre (2015) by Chris K — 10 Mar 2016
A fairly muddy entry into the long beloved series. The action scenes are fantastic and the original score is really moody and kinetic - but the large majority of the film is really formulaic and told poorly.
Even Christoph Waltz, one of the finest villain-character actors lately, is poorly scripted and feels scraped together. The ideas of information control are clever, and the idea of Bond facing a nefarious group that's been pulling the strings for many years is interesting, but just doesn't feel put together at the end.
It feels largely very generic and at times approaches boredom - but gladly excellent choreography and semi-interesting set-pieces help, somewhat.
