Review of Spectre (2015) by David B — 16 Mar 2017
Honestly, loved it! I see a lot of reviewers say that it doesn't hold a candle to Casino Royale or Skyfall and I couldn't disagree more. I think it's just as good, and for my own personal preference, I actually found this to be even more enjoyable than Skyfall.
Comparisons aside, this is a terrific and above average Bond film. Felt very much like the first 7 films from the 60's and the story elements from the previous 3 films were woven together very well. Go see in the theater because the action is shot beautifully and it's loud and thrilling. If you're a fan of the franchise as a whole, and I'm talking the 50+ years, you will definitely appreciate this. If you're new to the series, I'd maybe go back and watch the other Craig movies first if you wish to feel a little more emotionally invested in this story. Maybe that's my only complaint about the movie is that it doesn't stand on its own like the older Bond movies. It relies quite heavily on previous events. But I did actually like that it tied the other films together since I'm a big fan.
For me, this will go down as one of my favorites of the series. A classic Bond film.
