Review of Spectre (2015) by Tyler B — 10 Feb 2016
It certainly is the second worst installment in the Craig's saga, but then again, it still is a thousand times better than Quantum of Solace. Spectre gives us very well directed action scenes, yet it lacks in many other details.
The CG, surprisingly looks very unrealistic at times, and sometimes you can't help but think that the green screen effects are ripped straight out of an early 2000 movie. Other than that the villain is bland, and his master plan revolves around passing a system to spy on everyone to 'prevent terrorism'. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a similar plot.
Of course when you see a new female character introduced to the movie you instantly think: 'cut the tough act sweetheart you're gonna bone him anyway' and sure enough, she does! The movie tries hard to convince us that somehow the chemistry the blonde (I forgot her name) and Bond share togheter is somehow similarn and even stronger than the relationship between him and Vesper, but to be honest I cant see it! Bond and Vesper had numerous moments togheter when they developed their relationship, but the new girl just wants to have sex with him after the first few rough hours. It's totally unearned.
The siniter organization behind all four movies is also a letdown. Turns out that no matter that they have members everywhere, just blowing up a site in Marocco can cripple them. And it does!
But as I said, there are good elements such as the action scenes and M's character development. Oh and no matter how bland the new girl is, she's friggin hot!
