Review of Species II (1998) by Deke P — 10 Jun 2016
It's been awhile since I've seen the first film, but I think this sequel may be better than the original, though I have to say I didn't really care for the original, even though it that film had a lot going for it both in front of and behind the camera.
In this sequel an astronaut returns from Mars infected by alien DNA, so the governments makes a new Sil, Natasha Henstridge, to help track down the infected astronaut before he kills again. Michael Madsen and Marg Helgenberger return for this weak sequel.
The original film has a solid director and this film does as well, with Peter Medak, who did some decent stuff like "Romeo is Bleeding," "Let Him Have It," "The Krays," and "The Changeling.
" But it's all for naught because even though this film is better than the original, it's still not that good. Not really worth watching.
